Question by Carlos G: I have two dream careers, one is Forensic anthropology and the other one is Med school/doctor…?
Besides salary differences, which would you choose and why?
I have always loved history and ancient civilizations , bones and stuff , but I also am a straight A student in biology and chemistry which career should I choose or which would you choose?
Best answer:
Answer by : )
Are you a straight A student in college or high school? If you’re a straight A student in college you should look into medical school or at least apply to some. If you’re still in high school, there is not need to decide until you’re in college and have tried out both areas.

The majority of anthropologists study to become professors at universities. This means you would need a Bachelor’s, a Masters and a PhD in anthropology (approx. 11 years post-secondary). They teach, research and write articles/books. Others become curators at large museums, giving presentations, conserving the museums anthropological findings, conducting research and planning displays.
Sometimes anthropologists can work at governments, hospitals, social service agencies, and community organizations. They also work in the private sector for market research companies, consulting firms, and human resources departments. If you work at some of these places a PhD is not a demand, but is still valued. Anthropologists can often travel to conduct “fieldwork” – uncovering artifacts, digging and more, all while experiencing a new culture.
Remember anthropology is a broad study, so with a degree in this amazing subject the opportunities are endless!
I am a Ontario high school student and this is a GREAT website my Careers teacher recommended for us:
http://www.careercruising.com/
If you live in Canada you can make an account and research your career. The anthropology career can be found by:
1. Once on the main page, click on the horizontal, blueish task bar at the top above WELCOME TO CAREER CRUISING
2. Now you are at a page that should say EXPLORE CAREERS
You can find anthropology by clicking on SEARCH BY INDEX
3. You’ll then see all the letters of the alphabet, and obviously you must click A for anthropology.
4. There are other options to find anthropology on the EXPLORE CAREERS page, liking clicking on SEARCH BY SUBJECT and then clicking on social sciences or science, but the first option is easiest.
I loved this site it gave me so much useful info on anthropology! I’m now enrolled in a high school anthropology program for next year and I’m so excited! It’s a great career that, even though the pay is quite average starting out and the schooling is long, it can be a rewarding career with many exciting opportunities!
P.S. apparently schedules are flexible too!
